OKAY, here's my tale of Captain Scott-style British pluck. My tag heuer replica bit of Cumbria was snowbound on Monday and, with the nation awaiting finely honed wit and top tunes, well top tunes anyway, that evening from a Manchester studio, there was nothing for it but to walk.
Not all the way obviously.
But four miles through a blizzard and a forest before Ben the landlord at the Boot And Shoe in Greystoke gave me a lift to the nearest station.
On the way though, I was reminded of Robert Frost's poem Stopping By fake rolex Woods On A Snowy Evening where the
embroidered patches protagonist thinks about lying down in a snowdrift and dying but concludes: "But I have promises to keep, and miles to go before I sleep."
All of which is a fairly flimsy way of saying that if you want to know how much or little I know about poetry, it's my specialist subject on Celebrity Mastermind this Monday evening on BBC1. I've started so I'll finish.
